How To Repair Alternator Problems
My apologies. That was a terrible typo. I of-course meant 12.5V when OFF and 14V when ON.
So non to worry, I am at present an expert in removing the battery and charging it at abode. I got my own Bosch Car bombardment charger since a couple of FNG's I visited showed no patience in getting to the root of the consequence and then I am living with this outcome for a couple of months now. These mechanics just desire to blame the aftermarket accessories (Stereo & Amp) without giving a workable solution other than "remove information technology all". Fiat service middle likewise returned the car saying in that location was no issue as they practise non desire to keep cars for too long. Moreover there are only three service centres left in Blr and all are as well far for me now.
To dominion out the Amp and the Stereo, I got a piggy back fuse and did a neat re-wiring of the REMOTE input to the Stereo and continued a switch in between. All DIY. And I see that only when the caput unit is switched on, the Amp is ON. (I tin withal take a leak though, need to practice more tests.)
Last night I was able to get concur of a FLUKE DMM (I have a cheaper 1, and the Air conditioning electric current calculation is not correct - basically shows a figure of ~ DC Voltage Ten two). With the Fluke I was able to rule out the rectifier/diodes of the alternator. When the motorcar is ON the Air-conditioning voltage beyond the battery is ~0.35V. Most alternator test articles say backlog of 0.5V should exist an issue. I checked the value for my other car (Honda BRV) and it was ~0.2V. Then I don't call up the alternator is an issue here.
Similar Kosfactor mentioned, I may have a bad circuit somewhere else in the auto. Guess I will spend an hr myself on doing a parasitic drain exam by checking Idle electric current and removing fuses one by ane. Last resort in instance this too is inconclusive will be to find a good electric guy and get out the car with him.
@Kosfactor, noticed your location says Bangalore. Would you happen to know who the expert electrician is? I really need one. Though I guess I am looking more for patience than expertise!
